This post has been modified and moved to the TILERS ARMS as a more private way to deal with a particular issue.

I posted this thread (it starts below this intro) which lead to some comments about the use of models to promote. So I asked for the post to be deleted. I have now decided 365drills will continue to use models {AKA: Grid Girls} at the proper venues but not as a general advertising and marketing strategy. This is a direct result of input from forum posters such as yourselves. Its a bit of a hot topic and the reason this thread is live again is because it gives you a chance to read the actual post and add your view...)

I believe the best place to do this is here in the Arms becuase there are enough people with access but not the general community...

Everything below this line is now the actual thread as it was posted

hi rich

nobody hopes you make it with these drill bits more than me mate. anybody who has invested the time , money and effort that you have deserves a break BUT i know sex sells and all that but dont you think its a bit 'benny hill'. i mean that to be constructive. getting birds dolled up to the nines to create interest is all well and good but the focus should be on the value for money of your drill bits and that gets lost in translation.

there are so many companies with massive buying power who can produce this kind of drill bits now so the emphasis should really be on
1. the cost comparrison
2. the ease of use
3.the quality of the cut

and thats it, keep it simple, make it easy....

catch peoples eye but make an impression after that. i bet if you got 10 people in a room and get them to watch that video clip, then i bet if you asked the 10 people what was the main fetaures of the drill bits then they'd probably look at you and say, 'what drill bits, that wasnt what i was lookin at mate wahayyyy

see what i mean, thats where i think you are going off track.

get a slogan on the side of that yellow car and on the merchandising, saying..

diamond drilling
low cost billing!!

something/anything that alerts you to what the product is and how it benefits you.

hope this helps mate, no critisism intended just constructive help..

You make a valid point.

Marketing is difficult and using promo girls has its pros and cons.

The risk is it may ailenate powerful companies who might avoid stocking the product.

What do others think? Should this be a serious sales pitch. Or tounge in cheek....

At the moment we are looking to work out where it sits in the market and phrases like

"All-in-1 solution"
"365 Drills provide value for money"

all the best on your first video..idid meet you at k.b.b show not that you will remember , what size is the largest core yo do....

rich

you have got fair bit about you mate. you have sat in front of the dragons and you know the kind of things they ask..

imagine if you were infront of alan sugar, he's say, what do they do and how much do they bloody cost, who are we up against!!! i would steer clear of the 'solutions' buzz words etc...you are selling short term, cost effective diamond drilling bits aimed at people who are diy'er's, general builders/plumbers etc who only need them for a 1 off / 2 off jobs....your serious pros are going to buy the serious kit its just how it works.

i leave my point there mate and i really hope you know that i am trying to help you mate. sometimes it helps if people are constructive because its easy to say the videos great just because they like you and dont want to offend but it doesnt really help you in the long term.

all the best rich

ed

Never mind the drills.............can we have more of the birds

Not that I'm being a sexist pig

Actually Ive decided that Tiler Burden has a valid point.

So i am going to ask Dan to delete this post because its a bit "in your face"

Pretty girls should be used to promote stuff but time and place!

At the exhibtions then yes. On a forum being read by the public - Perhaps no.

I think we might cool the PR and concentrate on the product.
