guys ta for the advice and opinions. i should have mentioned that i will use BAL white star for the tiles with admix gt1 in the grout

If you are using a waterproof matting you really need to be using a powdered adhesive. White star is dispersion and as such dries by evaporation of moisture. If you don't give it anywhere to dry through, the adhesive won't set!

ps i was advised that with tiles under 300mm wide the white star would be ok but i joined on here to get advice from experienced guys not salesmen so ta again

Not on membranes it isn't.....
