I dont know why but its seems that all my free time is being used up at the moment filling out forms ,we purchased a company health and safety manual for our company last week and my goodness its was expensive ,some health and safety companies were looking for £500 a year to use their online method statement templates and health and safety docs, is any one else finding this a bind ? and why does it seem everyone is banging on about this so much at the moment ?

H&S has gone mad at the moment, but a lot of it is down to the reduced amount of work in the building industry,i was talking to a friend of a friend who works with barr construction and is trying to get me in the door with them for work but after our conversation i'm actually re-thinking the idea,he claims because of work shortfall there are guys so scared of losing there jobs they are creating problems to make jobs last longer:mad2:

they really are cracking down on H&S at the moment, this usually follows a bad year for accidents and the aftermath throws up lack of adherence to the rules,
the fines are massive for non complience
im finding ra and ms are getting more complex and if they are not written properly they can leave you vulnerable

I think a program will pay for itself if your the contractor on site

been doing this now for the last half year my first method statement was olny 5 pgs after getting the file sent back and not approved i have now got up to 28 pgs long.(this took me 1 long week to complete.) i have saved this and edit if and when
and after every job place all materials used in h/s file for client.

A mate who is a bricklayer uses the same method statement he's had for a few years.

He used to do alot of work for Amy but the H&S for the company has caused the work to come thru so slow he hardly seems to do anythink for them now

been doing tenders for local building firm for a while until last week i got a new h and s update..method statements..policies,,risk assesments etc etc etc etc not worth:mad2: the hassle for what i do workwise so not following it up.

I would follow it up...if every tiler thinks the same..Not worth the Hassle, you could be in a good position to get the work.
