Fixing hardie backer

Hi all . I have just removed plasterboard from a shower wall that was fixed with adhesive. I will be replacing with hardie backer. As I will want to affix bal tanking kit straight after fixing boards what is the fastest way to fix it
1) rapid set tile adhesive
2 ) grip fill

I assume this is a solid wall where the plasterboard was dot & dabbed onto it?

Yes dot & dabbed ordinary plasterboard which was very damp. Removed from thermalite blocks today to be replaced with hardie on Monday

In that case the fastest way to fix is using rapid set adhesive

Y do you want to fix waterproof cement boards then add a waterproof tanking kit? Are you using the hardie waterproof tape?

Hardi isn't waterproof, only water resistant. It allows water to soak into (& through it) but doesn't break down in wet conditions. I would fix a tanking board or plasterboard (tanked) personally

this job is the result of an insurance claim. In my proposal to rectify the situation I have proposed both hardie with tape & tanking . Bit belt & braces but don't want any future problems

No Ash. Aqua panel is water resistant like hardibacker, not waterproof. Silicone is not used, a dedicated jointing tape or mastic is used. Most companies sell their own type

If the original plasterboard was dot n dab, why not baton the wall and fix water resistant plaster board then tank.

I would refix plasterboard & tank that provided weight wasn't an issue.
That would be the cheapest way of redoing the walls

Hi CJ
We are only replacing the boards / tiles for the shower. The adjacent tiles are not being changed so to match the remaining wall we can only fix with adhesive
