Hi everyone,

I have a wall to tile with 200x100 bevelled ceramic tiles (brick bond) . I'm tiling onto 12mm 'no more ply' cement tile backer board which for the most part is nice and flush, however one or two of the board have a small difference in alignment. Its no more than 1/8th inch / 3mm but I'm worried it might upset the rest of the job. The obvious thing to do would be to apply a thicker layer of adhesive, but I'm wondering if it's worth feathering the boards back a bit to hide the difference. The misalignment is due to a slightly warped batten so it's going to be easier to remove some of the board rather than plane the wood back. What would you do in this situation? Am I overcomplicating it when a thicker layer of adhesive would do ? Thanks in advance for your advice!

Take the board off and put a few noggins between the studs to straighten up the timber...

Get the wall flat. Packing out the tiles will not give the desired finish. It will be quicker in the long run as packing out is slow and the tiles will slip.
