it's funny you should post that. I had a bloke on the phone from india today saying "Hi, is that Mr Tinzarni" or something, "on 01782 xxxxxx" I said no, thought I'd have a bit of fun so I stayed on the line, he says "ok so who am I speaking to" I said "who do you want?" this went on as he kept just guessing names but always telling me my phone number as if the name should apply to my number, so I said the number's wrong, that isn't the number you called.

I kept asking who's calling, and who they want, and why. From what I could work out they just wanted the right name and address on their database, probably to sell the database at the end, so I made it hard for the guy and he eventually gave up and said "sorry sir I must have the wrong number".

Got another two calls from a withheld number through the day but let them all go to the answer machine.

The whole time I wondered if he knew he sounded exactly like the fonejacker!

it's called scambaiting and the above story is very funny, they had the scam artist travel thousands of miles across Africa and Europe in the promise they had money ready and waiting for them

it's was more than likely me, it is a long read but worth it, it's basically a log of all the emails that went back and forth between them

not trying to nick the thread........but anyone else see the scam exposed by watchdog on mobile phone premium rate calls? if not be careful the scam is very simple....you get a missed call on your phone and when you ring it back it justs rings and rings, but the call has been forwarded to a premium rate call at £4.50 per call and x amount per minute or part there-of......oh btw dan i'll just have a pint of stella...cheers :8: :8: :8: or three .

I had an email yesterday of some woman claming to be a widow, whose husband left her lots of money, and as she is dying and doesn't want to give it all to the government she is going to give it to me, the 'undisclosed recipient'.. nice of her, init...:smilewinkgrin: oh yes, she didn't know who I was either... just as well.... :lol: half a guiness for me, please Dan... :daisy:

Radio 2 today talking about unwanted phonecalls and cold callers, anyway an elderly chap called up and related the story of when stanna stairlifts called him, the story goes...........


"Hello Mr. Smith, this is blah blah blah from stanna, I believe you have trouble getting up stairs?"
"Indeed I do young man, indeed I do"
"oh great" says the cold caller "we can really help you"
"can you really?" asked Mr Smith, "that would be wonderful, can you call around?"
The salesman is wetting himself now as its a dead cert sale, he has probably pre ordered the weekend drinks after the weekly sales meeting for all his mates.

"what number is your house Mr.Smith?" asks the flibbering idiot
"number 3, young man, you cant miss it, its the only bungalow in the street"

The line went dead......................

I get these emails regularly.i noticed them shortly after i put my email on a certain site! Spam gets em now.Be carefull folks. There is a lot of scams about.

I must be lucky, don't get much junk, calls or emails but the best one I had was that I had won a free holiday in the phillipines and I could pick my own wife! ones enough thank you very much
