just wanting to know the best way to tile doorsteps usin quarry tiles ?
is it better to tile the face of the step first?
many thanks

guess you are using the quarry tiles with the rounded edges for the step treads ?
I usually do the face first, but at the same time , dry lay the tops and allow for spacing so I know that it will look ok when tops are on.
Don't know if this is the official correct way , but works for me 🙂

Tile the riser first, then the step. Use movement joints if you can - or leave a small gap between riser and step to fill with Silicon.

🙂

yes use a sealer like lithofin stain stop and if you stain tiles with ady use lithofin cement remover

its funny but ive fitted 100s of m2 quarries over the years commercialy and domestically and ive never or heard of anybody sealing them !! im talking interior and exterior, factories ,pubs , hotels, etc ! the tiles were usually platts or dennis rubens 😕

im not disputing the fact that its probably best to seal em just saying that ive never seen it done!! you live and learn!!

seal with any cotta sealer, after all quarry is a baby cotta. ps platts and raubon both now bust have been a while.Pilks still do the multiversatile though.
