I was just wondering who offers a guarantee with there installation work?
If i am supplying the materials and doing the preparation work myself then i give a 10 year written guarantee against faulty workmanship, Ive never been called back yet.

Does anyone else do this???

I do.. but on fixing and not materials.... some customers use harsh cleaning products etc and there has to be a limit on what you guarantee...

hi peckers

thats a great guarantee mate, 10 yrs!! do you have a specification of whats covered or what would void the guarantee..i think a 3 year guarantee on fixing is extremely good but 10yrs is fantastic. i might have to review my guarantee period?

cheers

Do any of you have an example of a written guarantee you can upload? Just interested to see some examples before I make one up myself in the future.

I don't actually offer a written guarantee but just say if there's any problems just give me a call.

10 years seems a long though

I would never offer such a long term warranty on work,Too much can happen between installation and 10yrs, A warranty given by a small contractor is worthless unless insurance backed and most customers will know this. We can all offer X,Y and Z but would you seriously fix a problem 9.5 yrs down the line?

I stipulate that my guarantee starts from the completed date of installation and it covers faulty workmanship for the fitting of floor and wall tiles and the installation of substrates errected or layed for there intended purpose at the time it was carried out.
And it is only covered if i have done all of the preparation work prior to tiling.

It does not cover tiles, discoulouring of grout or silicone, for obvious reasons,
However if a tile had debonded and upon lifting it to find out why if it was down to my installation then i would put it right at my expense.

I also state that the materials i supply and use carry there own manufacturers guarantee and if there was a problem due to a breakdown of the adhesive or grout then I would get there rep to come and view the problem.

There is a bit more to it then this but its basically it,

Best one I seen to date is one of my customers who does concrete, screeds, tiling, underfloor heating, and resillients. He offers a 25 year insurance backed warranty.

Do you keep all batch numbers from the materials written down for the records from each particular job, just in case.
