I've taken up some old thermoplastic floor tiles laid in the early 70's. This has left a black bitumenous residue on the concrete screed and I'm concerned about tiling onto it. I want to lay travertine stone tiles so should I seal the old surface first or apply adhesive directly? What products would you recommend?

Good neat coat of BAL bond, and use white flexible adhesive, this will stop any possible bleedthrough to discolour marble, you can't go wrong.

im with gaz on that done it many times but i aways get the punter to lift the the old crap😉

Thanks guys, was worried about getting good adhesion more than bleed through but I assume you think it's not going to be a problem if I use Bal Bond. Do I use it neat or diluted?
