Do any of you guys think that wooden architraves look out of place in a fully tiled bathroom? (walls & floor)
What other options are there?

some builders we work for lose the architrave and ask for the tiles to be trimmed around the door frame, this is a design issue and i dont really have a strong opinion on it either way ,some architraves have nice profiles so its all down to personal opinion

No, it depends on what effect you want. If it is a country look you want, why not.

There are lots of alternatives though. First you need to decide upon the tiles then think about the trim.

personally, i prefer door architaves (or facings) as it gives a finishing point to tile to:thumbsup:

the architraves are fitted to cover the gap between doorframe and plaster, due to differential movement this continuosly cracks, so if you can get over that theres no need for architraves

Burncross, don't just think of trim; you can also use different tiles/profiles for borders and accents too.

i used to machine in excess of 20,000 mtrs of architrive per day in my previous job so i know the stuff well, lol.
It's nice to set the tile a couple of mm back from it,then silicon the gap.
Why tile onto a doorframe which will fluctuate with temperatures?

I agree with Mikethetiler they are only designed to hide the join between the wall and door frame.
I havn't seen a bathroom without any on so don't know what it would look like tiled instead.
May be some on here might have some pictures of a bathroom without them but tiled instead.
