levelling
Levelling or leveling (American English; see spelling differences) is a branch of surveying, the object of which is to establish or verify or measure the height of specified points relative to a datum. It is widely used in geodesy and cartography to measure geodetic height, and in construction to measure height differences of construction artifacts.
It is also known as spirit levelling and differential levelling.
So a very nice man I know, a certain Mick Volponi - who happens to be responsible for the MLT levelling system, has sent me this sample kit to try.
For anyone who hasn't heard of it, it's a system from the USA which uses a combination of different straps and base plates for different materials...
Everybody seems to be selling tile levelling systems these days. So I thought I'd have a quick look on one of the websites I use to by tat from. They do actually do some good stuff amongst the crap. It's worth digging through. You can often get samples sent over FOC if you have an account that...
Hi all, starting a wet room floor soon, have a few questions I would like some help with!
The floor has already been installed by a builder and has Hardi backer boards down, running up to the tray, but will need levelling before reaching it.
1. Hardi backer is not waterproof, so how does self...
Hi - some four bathrooms down and feeling pretty confident. So - now my son wants me to level his entire ground floor with varying thicknesses of marmox boards 6mm - 20mm to insulate a bit and to cover existing and incomplete "rubber" tiles - which are possibly containing asbestos so I'd rather...
Hi all, I'm about to tile a concrete kitchen floor that needs leveling as it currently slopes and runs out by around 40 mm (from one end of room to the other). I just wanted to know whether (a) self leveling compound would do the job and if so, the maximum thickness that can be applied, and (b)...
Hi guys, the job, 140m2 of Mapei renovation screed over profix 15mm ufh system. It was to big for me to lay by hand so got a firm in to pump it. They have done a top job getting spot on flat but after inspecting it 2 and half days after it was laid I found pretty much every where it had the...
Hi all just asking if anyone else has come across selflevelling compound cracking and what they have done about it.
The floor in question is an old farm house and was a mixture of concrete and old type tiles but as walls had been removed these were all at different heights hence levelling.
The...

Fast-setting, self-leveling, polymer-modified cementitious screed, used for smoothing and leveling concrete or mortar floors, before laying finishing materials like ceramic tiles, moquettes, parquet, vinyl tiles etc. It can be used at a thickness of 1-10 mm. Ideal for quick repairs, as it is...
ive got an underfloor heating floor to lay. It's nuheat lopro. Basically it's a stuck down egg box type with 10mm pipes flipped in. That I have no problem with.
But I've then to cover it with thier fibre renforced self leveller. Which under normal circumstances would not be a problem. The...
Hi
My bathroom floor is not particularly level running out of true approximately 3mm. As most flooring covering manufacturers stress the importance of having a level floor I think that I need to use self levelling compound to achieve this. Can someone please recommend a brand to use as there are...
There's no real place for this thread, so here goes.
The house was built 1930 (by gerry builders) and has a 4" aggregate floor in the kithen, and seems to have a painted DPM about half inch below the floor level, then a light screed of sorts before the tiles were laid, and then the last owners...
