    Travertine will crack at the drop of a hat , you could overlay with ditra matting which should help matters. Better still use porcelain!

    How very true , ok we do the belt and braces thing as a matter of course , but can't help thinking it's overkill sometimes. I've been tiling since the mid eighties and only been tanking since the noughies and never knowingly had a failure!

    Just done one today. Score and snap easy , wet saw cut no problem , only problem was , had to slurry coat the backs first (fired earth) instructions

    Never had ready mix adhesive cause a problem , even when cheating and grouting same day , totally against the rules but never had that sort of problem in 30 years. You can only bend the rules of you know what you're doing He's an idiot for not doing all the tiling on the first day if he was...

    If the tiles were layed directly onto 6mm ply the floor will crack up , if ditra mat or backer board was used it will probably crack up!
