    Fatmax X3g

Are the green beams much easier to see then the normal red ones? I've got an old Stanley laser with a red beam, it can be quite difficult to see the beam in a bright room.

Where To Start With This One?

That's what I've ended up doing, it actually got worse, the shower tray was sitting on a sheet of chipboard and blocks of wood, not even fixed to anything!

Where To Start With This One?

Hi guys, Just started a job today ripping an old shower out, was planning on using plasterboard/tile backer and then tanking but have discovered many potential problems. The plastered wall is soaking wet near the bottom, just crumbles away when you rub it. The battened wall, has old tiles...

    British Ceramic Tiles

I fitted a load of these recently. I found them fairly similarly sized, however the edges were tapered on some sides, and square on others, so you couldn't use spacers properly, did you find the same thing?

    Silicon Done Badly

Tool for me too, I find the no nonsense one from screwfix the best, prefer them to the fugi one, due to the shape mainly.

Fitting Metal Edge Trim/tiles Around Window Recess

It's easier to tile the front facing walls first, then tile the reveals after with the trim lip underneath the reveal tiles. I also tend to leave a grout gap between trim and edge of tile, but that's personal preference really. Normally, you would put the trim into the adhesive bed, then sit...

    Laser Level Telescopic Pole

The BM1 allows the fine height adjustment doesn't it? I might get one of those to put on my LT30.

    Laser Level Telescopic Pole

I've got a STABILA LT30 which are only about £45, if you shop around. It's pretty good, the only thing I would say is try and get a laser with a precise height adjuster, so you can get it roughly in the right place on the pole, then fine tune the height with a dial. I think one of the Bosch...

Out Of Interest On Some Background Prep

Personally, I would batten the walls, fix hardiebacker and then tile on top with tanking in the wet areas. I know a lot of people would dot and dab MR plasterboard, tank the wet areas and the tile. It comes down to personal preference really, although plasterboard is much easier to work with...

    Hardi Backer

I have to agree with all your points tommy, I use it quite a bit and it is a complete pain to cut and screws don't seem to countersink into it properly. I use gold screws or turbo gold from screwfix but they often pull out the wood before countersinking. To prevent impact bits snapping I...

    New Ensuite

As above, you're going to end up with some small slithers of tile around the window reveal, but that's about all I can spot. Your setting out on the back wall on first photo looks fine to me, if we are being really picky, then I would say there is some unevenness across some of the tiles.

I think hollow wall anchors are the way to go, you'd need a lot of force to pull one of those through. You just have to flatten the spikes on the front so it sits flush against the tile.

Saw something on watchdog about those sites, very dodgy business practices, so don't bother myself, just word of mouth and a (work in progress) website.

I've seen the videos, but say you want an L shaped piece, you can't use this method. CTD, where I get my Hardiebacker from don't stock this blade, as I have asked them. I will message you my postcode, thanks.

Cheers, will definitely have to try that next time. I only dislike fitting it because of the cutting!

Cheers, will look at that, how do those blades hold up against it over time? Yeah, it is nasty stuff that dust. I bloody hate the score and break method, not too bad if you've got enough board both sides to lever the break, but if you're just cutting a tiny bit off, it's impossible sometimes.

Whilst on the subject of Hardiebacker, where can we get the circular saw blades?! I find this a nightmare to cut with the carbide scorer. I have also filled out the survey!
