All the things I hate in one bathroom

Usually prep it day before. But I have poured straight away when needed. Just be careful not to stand on the rails while your pouring if you’re doing it before they’ve set.

All the things I hate in one bathroom

Window packers stuck down with rapid at the correct heights make my dots. sharp sand and cement for the rails. Just make sure you wet your straight edges when you’re packing down the cement, and use a sliding motion. Cut the excess off the sides and tidy up with a trowel. When you’re happy...

Large gap between bath and wall

When I encounter this and boarding a wall isn’t an option then I fit tub with equal gaps at both ends. This should halve your gap to 20mm which is workable with 10mm thick tiles, adhesive and a thicker Silicon bead.

    So How Was Your Day?

Just got back from sealing some slate in a log burner I tiled yesterday. Was meant to tile it Wednesday but when I turned up all 3 reveals were painted bananas so had to chop it all back to brick and clad

How did it all start for you? And where? (How did you become a tiler?)

I was a Toxicologist for 17 years, last 5 years of that I'd been shifted into middle management and it wasn't Science anymore. Just dealing with ***** from staff (school leavers still acting like kids) and getting crap from above from people who didn't have a clue. Already decided it wasn't for...

    So How Was Your Day?

They’re not magic but on large planks they’re a must imo. You just need to make sure the clips hold the tile in place or force it down further. If it’s raising a tile then that’s no good.

Another day. Another extension with wet UFH and porc planks. Better than metros or mosaics though!

My big plank job - cement based screed

I went back to do the en-suite, outside wc. He also wanted the concrete step outside that surrounds the trifold doors finished with planks so it looks like the doors are sat on the floor. Only thing I’m not keen on in this house was the wall tiles and mosaics he chose for the...

    Important Changes to Tiling Standards

Glad you got a good result. I did this one the other day. Set out with 2mm spacers (my 1st choice for metros) but would have ended up with raking slithers disappearing to nothing at the ceiling - exactly like what you've been left with. Lost 16mm at the top by swapping to a 3mm spacer. It's not...

BAL bal flex bone 2 easy

I thought one of the selling points of the 2E was that it could go straight on new screeds and will continue to cure after tiling complete. Why do we need to still do moisture tests?
