Floor tiles debonding after UFH turned on

No, he’s asked for it at the last moment and I’d forgotten to bring it on our first day. I said at 27m it’d be fine but we agreed to mat the others. Done 8 more since. I’d guess the mat is doing a good job of saving the others. For this reason he’s saying it’s my fault. I would never have...

Floor tiles debonding after UFH turned on

Hi I've got a problem on a building site with a floor. The UFH was turned on last week and now the floor tiles have debonded. In my opinion the floor was to hot but was assured the manifold was set to low. However the wall stat read 22 degrees. I was told if the doors were kept shut the heating...

    Most suitable Sigma?

If you want a sigma and only want to put to push just get the max handle upgrade. Cuts absolutely anything and still works on very small tiles and tiny cuts. Wheel lasts forever. Down side, doesn't come with a box. Pro Tiler sell them.

    Large tile cutter advice

I also have sigma and many rubi machines. The sigma is an amazing machine and the wheels last an age. However with the max breaking handle you can't see the wheel easy and this makes it hard to line up. That's where the Rubi is better purely for it's accuracy. I've only had TX models as they'll...

Time to call in a professional?

Hi, although the face of a ceramic tile is waterproof with a glazed finish the back is not, so any leaks can find a place to soak up the backs of the tiles and then is absorbed by the wall. Plasterboard then expands and more grout cracks and the problem is larger. Sometimes the easiest route is...

    Water leak around bathtub edges

Hi Alex, I had a moan at a builder today because in the bathroom I tiles the bath was only fixed to the wall with Silicon. I have a rule normally that all baths should have a batten. This stops the corners especially being able to flex and dip. Its obvious when I'm tiling as the weight of my...

    Which Wet Tile Cutter?

what Dan says is bang on. The vitrex 750 is a good machine when you fit a quality blade. Has a good size bed also which catches and returns a lot of water which make it a decent machine inside someone’s home. I bought an erbaur last time from screw fix and that’s been decent also.

Self leveling spacers on brick bond

most tiles That size are often curved and you’d struggle to get it flat with a half bond. Clips can help on larger tiles which have more flexibility but you’ll find 600x300 to stiff. we often do a staggered bond which has a similar effect but gives you more chance of getting it flat.

    Tiles coming up easily

I would imagine your adhesive has skimmed over because it’s still to hot for rapid set right now. We’ve only been using standard or semi rapid s1 adhesives by Tilemaster. This stays really tacky. Back buttering would of helped but a slower setting adhesive would make a difference.

    UFH decoupling membrane

Has anybody purchased any of the red decoupling matting now supplied by the UnderFloorHeatingStore. For the pro grid system they previously used the xoxo one by dura. Now they’re using a red one which I’ve seen on Alibaba from Chin. Anybody even tried any of these matings from China? Is this...

How to raise this sub floor?

sorry to hijack this thread but I need to something similar over an anhydrite screed with ufh. I assumed insulation boards would be no use because of ufh. Would anybody recommend hardi backer adhesived down. There is very little info on this, I may even be the first to face this problem. It's...

Split Face Tiles - wall prep?

I've tried a million ways to remove paint and I always end up with my trusty stanley knife at the end scratching the hell out of it to be safe. Sweep then prime.

    Bathroom Tile Crack

It must be a structural issue to go through two tiles like that. Cutting around the tv would weaken the tile but not the one below. There is probably a stud down the side of the tv to fix it in and there has been some movement in it. I see floors and wall shrinking all the time. As far as...

Split Face Tiles - wall prep?

Make sure you have some plastic tile wedges and if possible a laser level. If not mark a few level lines on the wall at intervals. Split face tiles aren't perfect in shape and size so you can lose the level easy, hence the wedges here and there.

    Cement board over anhydrite screed

We have a floor to do which has ended up being way to low. We to bring the whole floor up about 14mm before we mat it and tile it. It is 180m in a very old expensive house that has original skirts and stair cases still in place that we need to get up to. We figured a 12.5mm cement board would be...
