Level Subfloor Under Plywood Before Tiling?

Why not plenty of the multicoloured packers that carpenters use. Then cuts of timber ( with the grain) where it gets too big for packers. Just use them every 6 inches or so for a solid base.

    White marble yellowing

Water acids and bleach cause the oxidisation of the iron in the marble. So how does one seal marble from these in a shower! It does seem pretty inevitable.

Not really answering the question but has anyone had success with removing yellow stains in light marble?

black title lost gloss after cleaning with a product

Thats an acidic detergent. Its effected it as it would a calcium stone such as marble or limestone. I cant tell if thats a composite or whatever the story is but u need to try polish a bit ( affected area) to see if you can get the gloss back. You could use Fila Stone plus colour enhancer to...

HELP To Restore black quarry tiles

Hi. If the detergent was acidic. ( limewash remover) or whatever it was they used. Then the quarry tiles wouldnt do that. Are you sure those are not cement encaustic tiles? If they are you have bleached discoloured pigment. There are a few solutions if this is the case.

Mid grey grout gone white at someparts?

Usually white in darker grout is salts that have risen up. Try a bit of white wine vinegar and scrubbing brush

Restoring outside red doorstep tiles - why doesn't anything work?

Hi, you are best off stripping them right back to what they actually are. As mentioned above the first step is a high alkaline detergent. I like a product called Fila PS87. Then you will need to apply an acidic cleaner to penetrate deeper in to the tiles and also clean the stuff that the other...

Polishing marble down for smooth flush finish to correct cowboy tilling?

Grinding down floors is easier as you can put a big rotary machine with diamond blocks. Walls on the other hand is harder as you can only use the hand held Flex polisher with 115mm disks. I find it hard work so personally would avoid a job with allot of lippage to be ground down.

    Parkay floor

If it’s on concrete I would try strip it off with ( heavy duty polish remover stripper) there is allot of this type of detergent available and just work at it with your stiff brush and scraper. Other chemicals that help include methylated spirits , nitro mors paint stripper, acetone. If it’s on...

Deffo get some more quotes and don’t tell the others what he quoted. It does seem on the expensive side.

Damage to my tiles, can it be fixed?

What nob jobs , so unprofessional. Looks like they used a standard masonry drill bit but they should have known to use a porcelain hole saw. I would get them back to sort all of their dodgy work out.

Extension of existing tiled floor - options

Hi. It’s always a choice between the lesser of two evils type thing. If I am understanding it correctly I would use the same tile and just have the sliver cut. Changing the tile type will change the area giving it a divided feeling. The only reason to divide the area is if your hallway tiles...

Removing stains from natural stone tiles

Does it look like there is a topical seal on the tiles? This would be a thin clear plastic like coating on the tiles.

    Stained Grout

An acidic tile cleaner will sort that out chop chop.( they are usually called grout residue remover). If you have access to a steamer then steam the chemical once applied for even better results. Get a little scrubbing brush , spray it on and scrub till it’s clean again. If any bits don’t come...
