i am starting a job next week, to fit natural stone.i would usually fit, seal using lifofin stain stop grout and then seal again. however the stone company supplying the tiles have told customer that after stain stopping i have to wax the tiles, can anyone shed any light on the reasons for this surely stain stop is sufficient to seal and protect the tiles.

I sealed and then waxed a kitchen floor for a customer, that is what she wanted so thats what she got, I used a high variable speed bosch polisher and it came up like a mirror, I used lithofin cobblewax which was applied with a brush, allowed to dry a while and then polished, the floor had two coats. Funnily enough as shiny as it was it was not slippy and I maintain it each year so its an on-going money maker. Stain stop and stain stop plus are brilliant products but this just came down to choice.

Why wax the stone at all?
If they want the stone polish, polish the stone and than seal the stone. Wax on the stone is never a good idea unless you are looking for repeat work. the polish that a wax will give you will no last and can give the stone a amber tint over time.
