Wall Boarding Advice

Even if the substrate is powdery and weak?

I thought the weight of the tiles may compromise the D&D?

If your dot and dabbing to brickwork you should wet the areas where the dri wall adhesive is being fixed but the brickwork should still be clean from any lime mortar.

So given I'm fixing to what I believe to be a lime mortar, can I D&D and use mechanical fixings in addition. Say 300mm centres through the D&D as you would with Hardi?

No you don't fix to lime mortar, that has be removed, then you fix the boards directly to the brickwork...once you use mechanical fixings the screwheads must not break the paper surface otherwise they are next to useless.

Is there no other way? Another kind of board perhaps?

Taking 4 walls of a 4m x 3.6m room back to brick is one hell of a task.

Okay, advice heeded and will begin the chipping off process at the weekend.

Appreciate all the input from you guys!

Regarding boards, am I right in thinking MRPB us fine throughout with Bal tanking all over the shower and bath area? Also, is there any benefit to sealing the board joints with Silicon as well as screwing to the batons?

Many thanks for you help once again!

Standard board will fine if your tanking around the bath but you will need 6x3's a lot easier to handle and get 12.5mm.
