Van maintenance.

I had a day of van maintenance today, changed the oil/filter and front brake pads on my Mitsubishi L200. Then did oil/filter change on my vauxhall combo and also fitted a new starter motor, that was a bit fiddly. Does anybody else have a go at little jobs on there vans? The guy in Halfords said that since the recesion started the sales of Haynes workshop manuals have gone mad, people are saving a few quid doing jobs themselves. I had a quote from a garage to supply and fit a starter motor £200+vat. I got a starter motor £60 took me about 2hrs to remove old one and fit new one myself. :auto:

Used to on the older vans i have had but since buying new vans i now get them serviced....saying that my scudo is due a service... more money

I can't get a haynes for my transit as it's an 04 but if I can I'll have a go. Just had the van mot'ed, full service and front pads put in, £475, Jesus thought it was the 1st of april:incazzato:

Mine is 07 traffic,service light came on over a month ago,too busy to leave it in so rang them,just a setting they said,throw a litre of oil in if she is low and ring us in september,just 22k on it now.

Hope not..only 26k on the clock so discs might be ok...lol lol..but i do brake hard though...must be the tunz making me drive like a loooon..:lol:

The missus has just applied for a job in the service dept at Fiat Dave, aparantly the fiat parts and service dept is very busy all the time :lol::lol::lol:

I do the basic stuff oil filter, air filter, pollen filter etc,

Interestinly I bought the vectra used, and always thought the air blowers were rubbish because they hardly blew any air out of the vents, I changed the air pollen filter because it smelt a bit and turned on the vents and it nearly blew my head off.

Get alot of genuine vauxhall parts cheap on ebay, although the last set of tires from a garage were £550, and the rear pads and discs changes recently were £140.
