tiling over synthaproof

Hi

I have a wetroom to tile for a client,He tells me builder is going to tank it with synthaproof ready for tiling.(builder says he uses this method all the time)

I think this is a big no no ?

thoughts please?

oh and obviously going to tile walls and floor

why do builders have these hair brained ideas when the likes of mapei,granfix,pci etc all sell tanking kits

You can not use cementitious-based products on Sunthaprufe, so basically U CANT TILE IT!

But then what do we/u know! Its like all these wife tales, The butt always stops with the last trade in The Tiler.
