I have a commission right now for a mosaiced table centre piece, to put hot dishes on straight from the oven.

Working away at it it occurred to me, okay I'm using glass, (they wanted the thin stuff, NOT thicker glass or ceramic floor tile as recommended, so it's just vitrified glass but cut very small, so shouldn't crack, hopefully.. :-/ ..) but what about the heat on grout and cement adhesive underneath? Is there a maximum temperature it can go to?

They don't want epoxy grout either, just grey unsanded grout ... customer is king, right? :glasses::glasses:

As far as I'm aware so long as the adhesive and grout are a single part flexi, no problems should arise. This is how I've always done fire places. Hope I'm right because I've done a few!

Most adhesives are ok to around 100dgs cel Gisela and grout will be the same, the only thing you have to be careful of is ones with high polymer content as polymers can soften at higher temps.. please make sure by contacting tech line but seen as it will not be baked in the oven and just a how plate rest etc then it should be fine..
