I have it in mine... Strong as hell.. but a pain for new sockets..:mad2:

I only have it on walls around my downstairs loo.. so maybe sound proofing qualities as well..:lol::lol:

I have worked with them before. Fitted a new shower into it, nightmare chasing it out. Used a circular saw to cut it out!
Not advisable to solder the pipe work either.....WOOOOF!

Suprisingly string as already mentioned and good for fixing into. Mine was compressed straw with plasterboard either side and they protruded about 3 inches into the ceiling above so you are left with a slot in the ceiling. May not all be like that though.

Looking at a door frame the board seem to be about 50mm or less
