I am renovating an old bathroom.

The floors are old wooden floorboards.

Reading the advice on this forum I believe I should lay 12 mm ply first then have it primed.

However, it is difficult to coordinate the plumber and the tiler, ie to have the plumber take out the existing bathroom suite then return once the tiler has finished and the tiles are set.

Would it be a problem fitting ply and then tiling around a newly installed sink and toilet?

Also is there anything I should know about using porcelain tiles on a bathroom floor?

What should be the approx cost for tiling a bathroom floor which is on two levels, level 1. 1270 cms x 1930cms and level 2. 1370cms x 760cms? I will supply all the materials.

Thanks in advance.

You can tile around the toilet and sink but the end finish always looks better if you tile behind them.

I always take the sink and loo out, much easier and much better job. I was told in Topps the other day that as from next year all bathrooms will need to have backerboard like a wet room. Maybe Gaz or Dan will confirm this?
