What stone is it? What field tiles will it surround? Wall or floor?

If it's a trav border u can cut them with your snips or dry cutter, depending on the size of course. Just seal the face and like u said before fitting and after grouting. Sealer will depend on what stone it is.

How do you cut travertine with a dry cutter? I thought all natural stone was a wet cut only?

IMO a plasplugs is not up for the job.
Get a proper wetsaw with a 10" blade (one with a water-pump),
use a continuous rim stone blade.
When you install it use a small bucket with water and some little sponges to clean the face of any stray mud.
Use a grout release,or a sealer, before grouting, but don't get any into the joints, just lightly roll the face.

Do you do any floor grinding Alberta?

Kev

Sometimes.
It depends on the situation.
I have to do a spot of dry grinding to rid an entrance of some lippage tomorrow.
Me on the grinder and my wife on the vac.
The slate is cleft and gauged but is still very uneven in some places which was unavoidable due to the stone:mad2: .
Nothing but fun.
People think they are getting a product for cheap, but they do not realize that to make it look good in their application is going to take more than the basic labor charge to accomplish.

I did 30m2 of 500x500 honel trav a fe weeks back, it was a long hallway with plenty of cuts. I did most of them with my dry cutter. Scored them twice with the 18mm wheel and broke no bother. I broke 2 out of about 50, save alot of time thru the wet cutter. I always tey natural stone on the dry cutter first.

When you have to do a lot of cuts It makes you wonder if the client chose the right size to start with!!!

A lot depends on the size of the cuts and the quality of the Trav though but IMO if it will dry cut go for it! Its got to save time:thumbsup:
