Have been called into the mother in law's to try and sort out her bathroom floor.

Father in law laid a nautral slate floor a while ago and sealed with hg impregnating sealer (found the bottle so am certain)

I know this stuff is not much good and to make matters worse he has managed to leave grout / cement residue in places and seaed over it.

Ideally i want to use the Lithofin Slate Seal to give a high gloss wet look.

I was going to use the Lithofin cement residue remover to get back to the natural stone.

I have already scrubbed a couple of times with HG super remover to remove as much of the existing seal as possible.

Can anyone tell me if i will encounter reaction problems if i use Lithofin slate seal as the slate was previously treated with the HG product?

Any advice greatly appreciated!

As long as you neutralize the cleaners and leave to fully dry then it will be fine... the lithofin is a topical sealer , so will leave that wet look finish.

According to the HG bottle Neutralisation is achieved by washing with copious amounts of water- i belive the same is the case for the lithofin cement residue remover, can you confirm this? any other tips- ie application i have been using a stiff scrubbing brush so far for the cleaner and plan to use a foam roller for applying the Slate Seal.

I know i can get Lithofin from the Extensive website fairly cheaply but im not adversed to paying over the odds to get it quick locally- does anyone know if any of the national chains carry it?

try using a stainless steel pot scour to remove grout residue best when floor is wet when washing

Hull is my closest CTD and i just hate paiying the £6 to get over the bridge and back!- more to the point i might catch something nasty over the water! will have to have a look a the local "specialists"

Thanks for everyones help, Ill let you know how it goes!

You have it right, plenty clean water to neutralise.. it must be dry though before you use the slate seal or it will bloom.( go white).

A roller is fine but try not to foam the sealer up.. i tend to use a paint pad for sealers..

And as mentioned CTD stock lithofin..
