Hi All

Hope everyone had a merry christmas and enjoy a happy new year.

I have just measured up a little kitchen floor job, wierd shaped but do-able.

The floor is a mix to say the least. Modern lino type stuff on top off older lino stuck down with what looks like a black mastic (thin coat) then there appears to be a few thermo plastic tiles for good measure. Once removed the floor should be relatively level. 3 doors in, I from carpet, 1 to concrete in a cupboard so can incorporate but 3rd to continuation of lino floor. Fingers crossed I dont have to level as it will leave two awkward door thresholds to sort.

So my main question is floor prep. Can I use the bal sbr (?) to prime once I have got up most of the previous adhesive - a black stuff? A Bal flexible rapidset for tiles and as the customer has picked the worlds most wavy edged tiles - a flexible wide grout - no problems with grout lines then ho ho? Any suggestions would be appreciated.

Also the tiles are Hispania Ceramica - single fired floor tiles made in Spain - not a problem I hope? But at least I can select my adhesive and grout.

Threshold bars? Which is best to keep the obvious rise down to a sensible size? They are both a bit old and fragile so no trip hazards wanted.

This is my first paying outside the family and friends job - a straight forward square pattern, so no pressure

All seems to be in order Froggy mate...you have been paying attention in class....best of luck with your first paying job...and best wishes to you for the new year....Gaz

Thanks Gaz
seems strange, but actually going, measuring up, giving advice etc was quite a daunting task. I just needed a little word to say I was on the right lines.
So thanks for that
