Just wondering how you all finish off your grout lines on walls. I don't like the little plastic grout finishers as they can tend to dig into the grout and remove too much of it. Up to now I have either used the edge of a sponge or my finger, but what is the best way? I use the sponge from my washboy on floors which leaves a good finish - can this be used on wall tiles too?

Also, what is the best thing to use to seal the grout to help stop it from going brown over time?

I use a sponge as-well to finish the joints on walls..grout finishing tools leave the joints looking crap....you can buy grout sealers but i use bal micro ban grouts for kitchens and bathrooms etc....no mould or yellowing......dave....

if you require a grout sealer then look at these...

If you use either bal or ardex grout and mix them really well, you should only need your sponge, the secret is catching it just right to sponge off the tiles, just as you start to see it drying out On the tiles, with a fairly dry sponge do a figure of eight over the tiles to clean. then a final clean on the diagonal. if using your sponge from your wash boy, use two one for the floor, and one for the walls.

Leave as little on the walls as possible when floating the grout in the first place, then go lightly over with a moist sponge to remove the rest.

Do you guys have separate floats for grouting walls and floors? I use the same one (marshalltown) and it seems to be wearing a little quicker than anticipated?
