Hi all

ive been reading threads here for months and because of all the advice i have seen i have now decided to tile my bathroom. i took the tiles off yesterday but have 2 questions:

1.. when i took tiles off the window wall some plaster came off. the surface is bumpy. i have some render fix and was told i could use that to patch it and tile straight over. i thought id check first ...?

2. this wall also has a toilet with the waste pipe going thru. do i have to get a circle cutter to cut around the pipe, is there another way?

im tiling all the whole bits first, then cuts so do have time if i need to get more tools, any help would be great

thanks

:welcome: Marnie - reading the forum is definitely better than a short course for DIY.
You could purchase some fast set cement based adhesive and fill/skim the wall first, using a primer if necessary, and depending how the tile work out you may be able to use tile nippers to cut the pipe shape.
Good luck and enjoy the Forum.

Hi Marnie.
Use tile nippers or an wet cutter to cut around the pipe.
As for leaving out the cuts, my advise would be don't, if you tile different walls an leave out the cuts the chances of the corners meeting up properly are very slim. Always do the cuts as you tile.
