Gaps at top of plasterboard in shower cubicle and more :)

Hi. I've boarded a shower cubicle with moisture resistant plasterboard leaving a one inch gap at the top of the boards, should I fill the gaps with anything before tiling?

Also, just out of interest, if the top skim coats of plaster were coming away in places (like they were before I boarded), would it be a good idea to patch with a one coat plaster and tile over?

One more thing. Is there a cheaper alternative to BAL for adhesives, grouts, primers etc? A good one I mean I saw Mapei buildfix in B&Q, would that be ok? What could I prime with if I used this? Ceramic tiles by the way, nothing heavy.

Why leave a 25mm gap and have you over boarded the existing boards...

Mapei will be cheaper. That's a bit of a gap tbh, can you not screw in a 25mm piece of board then tile?

Had to build a frame to conceal the shower pipes so no board underneath on one wall and screwing through plaster onto old frame on other walls.

What sort of board charlie1? WBP Ply?

It was a REMOVED erm mistake. Working with someone else who thought the plasterboard shouldn't be touching the floor, so left it an shorter. He's the boss

Correct boards shouldn't be taken down to the floor, but a gap of 10mm maximum. Certainly if it's going to be tiled an inch is excessive. How was the board fixed? I'm sure you've said but my coffee's getting cold and i want a smoke. Was it dabbed or screwed to timber frame.

I would as it's a small strip just for support..
