Im tackling my first bathroom floor,is it possible to tile straight onto floorboards instead of using ply first,would a super flexi adhesive and grout from granfix etc do the job or would it crack.
 
i dont think any1 will recommend it
but i hav done it loads of times when the costumer didnt want the extra costs as lond as its well screwed down and feels alright wen u walk on it

With the right prep work , you can tile onto floor boards but i have never trusted this method....I either ply out or use backerboards.....sometimes even Ditra....each job treated individually......:thumbsup:

But if it had to onto boards then it would have to BAL fastflex...
 
I wouldnt do it if the floor was a large floor. For small bathrooms i find it good though.

My own bathroom is done with Fast Flex, its a small floor and all boards were secured with screws. Grouted with flexi grout and its been tiled for about 5 years with no cracks to the tile or grout.
