I have a concrete floor to repair before i can tile would any one recommend BAL Quick set cement or just a normal sand cement mix if so what ratio (sand:cement)

4 parts sand - 1 part cement for large/deep areas. for cracks, use a runny concrete mix.

Depends how big the floor is & extent of damage. Another option may be to self level the lot after doing dsome primary filling in of the holes. Mapei Ultraplan ECO is fantastic. Will level up to 10mm in one application, flexible, quick setting, no need for much trowelling levels itself if you use 5.5 litres of water per bag. Around £18.00 a bag, but saves a lot in using extra adhesive to get floor level. Also saves in time as the floor will be perfectly flat.
It's just a suggestion.

just out of curiosity has the floor got many cracks ,has it got an area underneath i.e a cellar ,is it byson beames ,has it been screeded properley or is it just potholes if this is the case self level it ,if its byson beames and it has cracked dont tile it as it hasnt been screeded to bs standards
