Is this an acceptable edge cut?

Having taken the time to thoroughly read through the thread. I would personally refuse point blank to give any more payment over. Pick the parts of the job (worse parts) that you want redone. Give them the chance to redo it. If they refuse, moan about it or leave a mess again. I would go to a...

Is this an acceptable edge cut?

I can't be the only one that free cuts these? I don't dream of scrubbing them 1st. Anyhow as mentioned above it isn't an acceptable finish. If the tiler had any pride in his work he wouldn't have left that finish in the 1st place. Hope you can get it resolved, best of luck!

Advice needed for mosaic splash backs

Use a Stanley knife to cut all the 'whole' tiles out that work in cuts at the socket. Once you have stuck your sheet on minus the socket tiles, go back and Mark the socket tiles, cut them and stick them.

Advice needed for mosaic splash backs

I have used these before and I can confirm you are in for a headache... Alot of the mosaics are stuck on squint, slightly different sizes. I ended up sticking them on and going back with a Stanley knife to cut and fix the worst offenders. Best of luck.

    That awkward moment...

Absolutely first class job. Can't believe my plumber has been doing it wrong this whole time! That hiding pipes stuff is well over rated! Spark used plastic trunking all down the hallway! Rather than raggle out the walls and hide the cables. Don't think they will see their 1st Bath before the...

    split face tiles mitreing?

I would really like to see a picture of this done. Even cutting a simple bevel metro tile on a 45 is pretty much impossible, and that only has a 'bump' in the middle of it.

Never used a grinder to cut tiles...

Another plus one for the grinder. A grinder in the right hands will leave a great finish. I always wear Google and a dust mask. Always do my cuts outside. Grinder only kicks back if you are not cutting straight.

    split face tiles mitreing?

If it is the type of split face tiles I have used not a chance in hell. The tiles are completely type thicknesses and sizes. Trying to get two tiles even remotely similar, let alone cut to a 45, it has got fail wrote all over it.

Grinder Blade for Mitre Tiles - How to mitre tiles using a grinder - freehand mitred tiles

Ohhh the customer's spark had the shaver socket sitting tight against wall! If I tiled it the cover plate wouldn't have fitted! Magic, maybe the tiler can cut 10mm off of the chrome cover to make it fit. I despise when the customer provides their 'own' tradesmen! Anyhow rant over.

Grinder Blade for Mitre Tiles - How to mitre tiles using a grinder - freehand mitred tiles

Was a nightmare to do, least helped by the fact the window was a country mile off of the level. Remember putting my level on the actual window and my bead ended up sitting back in the van lol. Black grout contributed to the never ending nightmare. Usual joiners that the customer has used (and...

I found the wet cutter quite good. Interesting to hear other people's thoughts on it. Might try the variable grinder and buffing pad next time.
