    Anyone Dealing With Topps Tiles??

What wrong with MAPEI bags Mike - not colourful enough for ya? I'll use TOPPS, but only if I'm in urgent need of something and I know my local tile shop won't be able to get it in for a few days. Rolls Royce must be a topps saying they promote nationally - the guy in Manchester said it...

Best plan for Slate & UFH?

Cheers Phil. I just started my own thread with some progress pics. You will see it is pretty dusty in the first few pics, then much darker in another pic, from after I swept, vacuumed, cleaned with a sponge and water, then let it dry and then primed it with PrimerG, diluted 50/50 with...

My first slate floor tile job with UFH.

Finally, I managed to get the first batch of pics uploaded. Was having problems with the wi-fi earlier!! Dave, just been reading your comments on another thread about ply. That is one thing I will really take on board and advise differently on in future. You have given me some idea's on how...

My first slate floor tile job with UFH.

Hope this is the right sub-forum for it, but I am about to upload some pics of the job I'm doing at the moment. It's an en-suite bathroom in a 3rd floor apartment. Had many discussions with the client about materials, and to keep it in budget, he has (IMHO) cheaped out in some places, and not...

Best plan for Slate & UFH?

Cheers for the reminder Phil. Now you mention it I'm not sure it was. Do you have any tips on how can you tell, without ripping the floor up to see if its been stamped somewhere? That said, I've also used WP joint tape on the marmox, and it will also have a layer of DITRAMATT over it, and...

Best plan for Slate & UFH?

I'm doing a honed slate floor with UFH at the moment. I'm putting it in and tiling the walls this coming week, so I'll treat you guys to some pics as I do it. I also went with insulation board and DITRA. My understanding was the insualtion board will improve the efficiency of the UFH...

Customer Vs Trade Dispute - Natural Stone Tiles

Interesting read for a new starter like myself. I agree the customers request does sound unreasonable, if there are only 2 tiles affected. They should allow you the opportunity to fix it in how you see fit. If they demand the 2 tiles are re-laid - I would recommend honing as an initial...

    Payback on rogue plumber

Nice One Macten. I also do plumbing and tiling so it's good to see justice being done to some rogue's. OMG was a good read too, nice work sorting it out, and that vid someone posted of the irish guy showing the polish plumbing was shocking but amusing at the same time...

Faithhealer, DJS thank you and help.

Was only joking...lol. Been busy/working late and very tired the last few days, so as a result I not been online much. Would be nice to see a picture of the tile finish, or if you already grouted - the tiling when finished?

    Basic travertine help please.

Do you mean there are no mixing instructions at all on the bag? Should be somekind of guidance as to what ratio of water/powder. I always try to steer clear of the warehouse stuff, overpriced for what it is, your just paying for the convenience. And I'm not just talking about adhesive. I...

Keraflex maxi S1 adhesive now creates 90% less dust.

Good to know. Cheers Dave  I'll have to go and check now if the stuff I used was the new gear.

    Basic travertine help please.

Depends on size of floor. I used the keraflex on walls because of the extended open time, as I was doing the cuts as I went along. With keraflex maxi on floors, you have to leave them 24hrs, before it's ready for light foot traffic. So if you lay the last one at 3pm, strictly speaking you...

Stone tiles not sticking to plywood floor

My job was definately 18mm WBP, and screwed down at 100mm centres. Don't know what grade of 6mm ply BexH used though? I forgot to mention in my last post that I wiped the floor down twice, left overnight to dry, primed it in the morning and left that to dry for an hour before fixing anything...
