    Adhesive strength

I recently wrote about a 120m floor i'm doing and forgot to mention the staicases are being done aswell. We've had the strings templted and cut and each staircase is to be done with 2 strings each over 2m x 0.5m and 20mm thick limestone. Will a good cement based adhesive be strong enough to hold...

    120 metre stone floor

Thanks everyone for replying. They are limestone tiles which need to sealed twice before even touched. We have used schluter de-coupling mat to replace the need for expansion joints. It's debatable whether that is enough. We also understand there might need to be replaced tiles due to cracking...

    120 metre stone floor

I am just starting a new floor job. It has underfloor heating in the screed already and it's about 120 square metres, even though it's only an entrance hall. The tiles are 800mm x 800mm stone tiles and 20mm thick. The room is about 25m x 5m and the customer doesn't want any expansion joints...

    wet saws /angle grinders?

i once inspected another tilers work for some woman who was distraught. She'd had her hallway tiled and the tiler had done a poor job but worse was all the dust on every part of the house including the walls. It was a brand new house aswell. This guy had been armed only with a grinder and done...

    wet saws /angle grinders?

i also have a bunch of score and break cutters. But for wet cutting i use a plasplugs master tiler wet saw with a marcist blade. These blades are expensive but they half your cutting time and last ages. Cuts any tile any size pretty quick. I've also got a makita hand cutter with the bottle on...

best ady to use on floors, but not quick setting

I've spent ages trying different brands of floor adhesive and i've sacked off most of them because i can't be bothered to keep cleaning out buckets because the adhesive has set to quick. This time of year i try to avoid rapid st. I use porcelanosa one-flex for most things. It lasts ages in the...

    dot and dab

Thanks Murf. I was looking for somebody who had a positive reply. I understand you need to solid bad in wet areas, but when you're tiling with big tiles in other areas dot and dabbing gives you the ability to get perfect flat reults.

Time Served Tiler's V.s New Tilers

I agree with most things said on this site about building a reputation and living off that. I worked 2 years on site as a sub contractor for someone and doing as much private work at weekends and evenings. A strong reputation can be built that way. Since then went on my own, gained more...

    dot and dab

I'm trying to work out exactly what the technical negative is about dot and dabbing. Is it the coverage issue or something else. I'd like to hear away the positive and the negative.

    Hello Tile Fans

I've been looking at this site for ages and have finally decided to write something. I mainly use this site for research like many. It seems the only way to learn is to actually have a go yourself. Sadly often learning from mistakes as much as successes. I am interested in finding out mainly...
