    My FrankenCutter

So here's a cut, showing what this machine can do. 16mm porcelane. 900mm long strip, 3mm wide, width varies by 0.3mm along whole length. The edge in the first pic has had one pass with a 200 grit diamond pad. The lefthand edge in the second pic is straight off the machine.

    My FrankenCutter

Needed to cut 1200mm Porcelain tiles. A lot of them. Didn't have £3k spare for an Italian machine, so this is what I built! Cuts to 0.25mm over 1200mm. I have just finished laying 400 tiles, all of which hd to be cut due to my choice of pattern... So Vitrex machines can work ok, provided...

    Wet cutter not cutting

Google dimond blade dressing! Cutting procelain makes the blade go blunt because it's not abrasive enough to wear the steel away and expose fresh diamonds. To dress the blade, cut something abrasive, like a grinding wheel for a bench grinder. Do it dry. At a push, some bricks/blocks etc will...

Blade starts to walk off centre?

Thanks Memoria damnata, I managed to get the edge of the blade square again, by grinding it with an angle grinder edge on at 90 degrees while the blade was spun slowly in a pillar drill. The blades cut really well after this and more importantly they cut straight. I will dress the blades while...

Blade starts to walk off centre?

Saw a video where a guy with a diamond lapidary saw, oil cooled, hits the edge with a bastard file... He seems to be suggesting that it cracks up the surface diamond edges?

Blade starts to walk off centre?

Good idea. I was thinking of putting the disk in a pillar drill and turning it slowly. Then use an angle grinder with metal grinding disk to grind the edge square. Отличная идея. Я думал о том, чтобы положить диск в колонку и медленно повернуть его. Затем используйте угловую шлифовальную машину...

Blade starts to walk off centre?

OK, I will try regular dressing. I'm sending the Marcrist back for them to look at. This is a good example of the machine cutting 900mm slices, it will usually hold 0.1 to 0.4mm over 900mm: And this is a few 150mm cuts in a tile. Three cuts from the Marcrist with dressing inbetween on the...

Blade starts to walk off centre?

OK, so the machine is causing uneven blade wear and once that gets bad enough, the blade starts walking off. Correct? I will double check the blade squarness to the rail again. The motor is shimmed to get the blade square to the rail, to about 0.1mm across the blade. Out of the box, the motor...

Blade starts to walk off centre?

Hi Bopster, I could, if I have to, make the machine settable with a shallow and full cut, if that helps. But I really don't think it's the machine, as it runs true and with a fresh blade cuts perfectly. Is there something about the machine that could make the bades decide to cut off line...

Blade starts to walk off centre?

New saw blade? The machine cuts dead straight, the blades don't after a days's cutting.... 1562277818 Is there a specific technique for dressing the blade? Just take a cut straight through the cleaning block? Does it need to be a fast cut?

Blade starts to walk off centre?

The machine cuts dead straight, to 0.4mm over 900mm, for maybe 20-30 cuts. Then the blade walks off to one side by 2-3mm. At that point the blade is knackered. It will continue to produce curved cuts. There's no way you could get a stright cut by 'moving the tile', it's 25 kg for a start...
