How to finish floor tiles in a doorway

I always cut the architrave and door stops away but NEVER the door frame/lining, a lot of door linings are either sunk into the screed or fixed to the floorboards, I know a lot of chippy's that do this to help secure the lining and if you cut it away you can loosen the whole frame.

    Cloakroom ufh

Ive been asked to install ufh in a small downstairs cloakroom, 1.1m x 0.95m. I've used the mats before on bigger rooms but presume on something like this I would have to use a cable system. Its a tiny little new extension with concrete floor (75mm insulation under 100mm concrete), so again I...

    what fixings for shower screen

But again, wont the flange on that fixing sit slightly proud of the tiles and thus hold the profile of off the wall ?

    what fixings for shower screen

How can you use them on a tiled wall and still get the profiles to sit flat to the wall ?

    what fixings for shower screen

Drill through the tiles with a 7mm tile drill, then carefully drill through the plasterboard with a 6.5mm wood HSS drill so that you dont tear the plasterboard to shreds with the drill. Then tap in a brown plug so that its slightly below the surface of the tile, then you can screw into it with a...

wall wider at top of the window!

If the gap between your tiles at the top is 25mm more than at the bottom then something is very pi**ed.

thick tiles to hide kitchen gaps

You could try what they did at a job i've just ripped out. Stuff the gap full of old newspaper and then gun a load of white silicon over the top of it, oh and dont forget to smear it all over the tiles and tops with your finger. Looked s**t but they seemed ok with it.

    wall batons

When I first saw those batten supports I thought they look brilliant but then I thought about when I would actually use them. Like you say there's usually something in the way. Probably great if your doing long straight walls.

    wall batons

Trouble is you will invariably need to cut battens to suit so I always use 2x1 timber. Wickes do bundles of 2.4m ( 10 in a bundle, I think) and I find its usually pretty straight if its still strapped up.

    shower tray curve

Ditto as above, dry lay the floor and then take a bit of time to cut accurate templates. A neat bead of silicon to finish.

    Loose tiles

Sounds like they're not stuck on properly. Sorry couldn't resist that,

Just in case anyone can help, quick toilet question.

Like Theyomper said modern loos overflow into the pan so it could be that, look to see if the cistern is overfilling and then overflowing into a tube in the centre of the flush mechanism. If not, then another thing is that, instead of a syphon they use whats called a "dump" valve, appropriate...

    cooker hood

I do quite a bit of kitchen fitting including hoods etc and most chimneys are a pain to get sitting straight and level especially the vertical sections. If you pull the hood away from the wall the top section wont sit right, I reckon your asking for trouble if you start messing with one...
