Just my two cents but any tile from Wickes that needs sealing should be avoided. I have had problems with Wickes tiles in the past. Its not worth the stress that comes with the job.
Cheers Pal. Im going to place an order tomorrow. It looks good. Spoke to Dural today and they answered all my questions. I'll update this thread if there are any complications.
Thanks again.
Hi All
Snow day for me today so doing some research into a job thats coming up.
It 30m2 with 12 m2 UFH.
Till now I have always used pro warm backboards with UFH and a layer of SLC over the top but this seems to be going out of fashion and is rather costly.
Been looking into UFH membranes and...
You could use it over Chipboard if you wanted. I personally would not. Its more work that standard adhesive. 22mm chip board should be fine in my opinion. However personally I don't ever like tiling over chipboard.
I would use a good flexable adhesive under the Backer board and then Tile...
Here is the link for it Mark : Ultimate Floor & Wall Tile Adhesive | Tilemaster Adhesives - http://www.tilemasteradhesives.co.uk/adhesives/ultimate-flexible-tile-adhesive
Im not a big fan of the latex adhesives.
I always use 12mm on the floor. Don't forget to back butter as well.
If you are installing Quartz then I would use Tile Master Ultimate as the adhesive.
I personally would fix tile backer board 10mm over the T&G floor. Fixed with adhesive and screws. Its easier to worth its that Hbacker.
Thats what I would do.
Walked away from the job in the end.
There were to many issues with bad prep that were not acceptable.
After a box reading the humidity in the floor was still in the mid 90's. Which I would put down to it not being sanded and moisture not being able to escape.
I have no idea why the bricks have been left in. It makes no sense to me but who knows how a builders mind works.
My plan dependant on moisture test was fill voids in brick work with flexible turbo adhesive then to level the entire floor with Arditex CL. Once dry Dirta over the the entire area...
Its a dogs dinner.
Any ideas? A soft joint won't be enough but anything else will look terrible. How do people get round this. Extensions being built next to existing substrate is a common thing.
Its also 80 x 80 tiles just to add a bit more of an edge to this job.
Cheers Pal. Its keeping me up as Im going through all the different options at night. Im 4 years in and have a good rep and customer base. I just want to make sure its been done right.
I don't want to shy away from a problem. How else do yo build your experience.
I know what you mean though.
I was thinking of Arditex CL for the SLC. Would you agree? The tap is yet to be installed so 2 part works well.
I will upload a picture of what I mean by the two different substrates being divided by brick. Its not shown in the picture but it curves round to all the way to the wall. Where is...
Hi Pal
Thanks for getting back to me. I'll order one today. Any preference of which one you would recommend?
Sorry that came across wrong. I mean I will be tackling the problems in stages not that the customer will be claiming back the cost in stages. This week has been a right off so the...
