Used warmups DCM pro heating system this week for the first time .
For those that don’t know It’s basically warmups version of ditra heat with cable going into the decoupler.
Also the matting is self adhesive and F*** does it stick (to primed insulation boards)
Amazing system anyway...
Yeah but it’s not just that one joist/ area that would of moved. The whole floor all would of moved abit. The issue with this area is his hardy backer join directly inline and ontop of the chipboard joint. So a very weak spot which has failed at first but of movement.
He did actually scrim the backerboard, pictures show remains of it from where I’ve uplifted part of the tile to expose chipboard.
Although he didn’t Bed scrim tape into adhesive and then cover over, just stuck in over the joint.
As stated above, I didn’t install these tiles. I will however be the one redoing the job once all ripped out ready to start again.
All I know reference the tiles is that they were ceramic floor tiles.
I’m aware of how they should be installed it’s exactly the same when we put UFH systems...
Yeah I appreciate that, but in the same house another tiler done the other 3 bathrooms and perfectly with no issues.
He couldn’t do this last bathroom as fell ill at the time it was required so a new tiler was employed. Original timer had put 6mm plywood over existing chipboard then sorta...
A recent flooring customer of mine had a big new build done, My company done all flooring at the house except any tiling on this job. A tiler done all walls and floors in this bathroom.
Customers asked me to go there today and uplift a tile for her as the tiler isn’t playing ball atm and...
So as it seems you all do a lot of latexing / levelling work. What other subfloor prep do you guys carry out personally out of interest?
For instance you walk into a job and customers had a new extension. It’s had a pump screed installed so it’s gypsum (anhydrite) screed.
Scenario 1 - laitance...
Is that right?
Nah I know what you mean a lot of floorlayers do only put 3mm down bare minimum but we tend to be putting at least 5mm down if the floor isn’t good.
With vinyl its mainly needs to be smooth as vinyl will lose some unevensss providing its not horrific which does show through if...
Im curious to know what every tilers goto levelling (smoothing ) compound is to get a floor in your eyes perfect for the job.
If you need that glass smooth flat/ level finish what product do you guys use and why?
My interest is purely that, as an experienced floorlayer my company is always...
Yeah I was abit worried about them being 6mm.
It’s just because the customers bought all Of the stuff already.
When I went round to look at the job first thing in my head I thought was LVT would be better and I’m much quicker install to.
Might go back to him and get him to take the tiles...
hi all,
I’m New to the forum and looking for some advice if anyone would be kind enough.
My background is from all types of flooring but over the last 5 years I’ve done tiling jobs for friends, family and customers but self taught working alongside other tilers. A lot of marking out and...
