hey there, long time no speak. I’m helping a friend tile their bathroom and they wish to waterproof the floor with an isolation membrane (ditra). Looking at the floorboards, I’m wondering if it would be advisable to overboard first with some cement/insulation boards?
Cheers
Hey Az,
I'm off the tools again, as I was trying to get 'back into it', but my hip joints are wearing out, so I just called it a day again.
If I could give any tips, try asking round the local tile shops in Stanley Green (Cheshire Tile, Real Stone & Tile etc), also one at Wythenshawe Centre...
New profile pic of finished job.
Customer called me back and said they wanted the border without cuts, but tiles were already ordered. So I re-worked the setting out again.
I offered to wait and swap the extra border tile for field tile, but customer was happy with a double border under the...
Hi Everyone,
I know this has been asked before (and I am currently trying to learn how to use SketchUp, so any tips appreciated), but has their been any other software releases or web based resources, that easily allow you to create tile designs that have your own finish.
Just negotiating an...
Wanted to share this, as its been 5 yrs since that thread about self levelling tips, and after having a break from tiling and now back at it again, I got to do the hybrid mix for the bay's and runners method. Was much easier with sand and cement in mix, but next time, will mix it a bit dryer, as...
We just had a record hot summer for 40 yrs. I'd suspect thermal expansion, if no water involved. Maybe Lack of movement joint around the perimeter. If it can't move outwards, it just blow's up in the middle. So does it rise up in the middle like a wave, or is it still flat? Be a shame to loose...
Spoke with my old tile shop, and got a list of people to call. Also lined up a meeting with DMTiling after seeing them needing work done nearby. Glad to say I'm on the tools again. Still a lot to organise, so going to start off with a new profile pic for now. Thanks to TilersForums too!
I used it once earlier this year, and found the only real benefit was the extended open time. So if I had a wall to tile with a window reveal, I may use the extra open time to do the tile cut's/mitre cut metal trim's and fix as you go! But still, that's nothing a bag of standard set can't do, if...
Cheers CT, I've been in to see them today. Picked up a bag of SLC for a job I'm doing at home (50% off for a burst bag).
Person I wanted to speak with wasn't around, so calling back for a chat in the morning.
