Removal of stubborn oil stain on concrete floor before tiling

Shouldn’t be too much of an issue However if concerned I would Abbrade the surface (scratch the top layer off) Some adhesives can go up to 20mm in isolated areas so you wouldn’t even need to use any leveller etc.. Are you going to be using a decoupling mat?

Bathroom fitters tiling over gap without filling in

That’s to allow expansion.. it should be filled with Silicon at the end of the job But yea the gap is there for a reason

Nightmare floor - caberfloor - cracking tiles - best adhesive/solution

Doesn’t matter how flexible the adhesive is.. the tiles are not and will still pop/tent and crack due to excessive movement Your tiler should’ve known this so I would get back onto them as it’s a full rip out and make good the floor before any tiling is started

S2 Adhesive for 1200x600 porc tiles on backer board on timber walls

S2 doesn’t add bond strength it just means it has more deformability.. Which is pretty much daft because tiles don’t bend.. You’re absolutely fine using an S1 Adhesive This whole S1 and S2 thing is utter nonsense and it all comes down to the substrate you’re going onto.. an S1 is perfectly...

Poor quality work. What’s should I do?

It can be rectified and should be.. shouldn’t take more than a day and should be given/offered the chance to fix.. i wouldn’t be happy with the finish

Is this good or bad tiling

It’s scary that these guys are out there and make a living with work like this.. The bathroom/finance companies don’t care and go with whomever is cheapest or will work for peanuts.. you can get away with cutting slight corners with plumbing or joinery when it’s not seen but tiling should be...

    Tiling floor preparation

Bal flex one isn’t an S2 it’s an S1 but is an awesome product.. you will be fine with an S1 Bal don’t do grey anymore, thats what the One stands for, one colour.. it’s like an slightly off white but all their products are now this colour.. Pourable-one, rapid flex-one etc primer is primer, as...

    Tiling floor preparation

You will need to dilute the SBR at 1 part sbr to 2 parts water.. that will make it like APD neat however it will take longer to dry, about 2 hours APD will dry in about 15 minutes.. mad you’ve already got the SBR just dilute it 1:2 and you’re good to go👍👍

Is this good or bad tiling

Before tiling into anything there are 4 boxes that need ticking for the substrate.. 1. Surface should be dry 2. Surface should be clean 3. Surface needs to be structurally sound 4. Surface needs to be flat If any one of these is not ticked off then no tiling should be done.. and no...

    Help and advice needed

I started out as a plumber by trade but had to learn the tiling game because I got stung by “professional tilers” too.. there are so many out there that say they are tilers but either haven’t done their time or just don’t care and because it’s a finishing trade it’s the worst one if it goes...

Floor and wall advise for bathroom re furb..

I would use Bal Flex-One as this has extended open time and adjustment time but you can grout after 6 hours a tilers primer will be ok, or sbr but this is more expensive as it can be used for different things such as making slurry mix etc just don’t use PVA

    Help and advice needed

Definitely not mate.. I would say the lot needs to come up, floor prepped properly and retiled it’s a shame because you will end up out of pocket unless your fixer puts it right off his own back which he should do I’ve never known a tiler to try and build up using broken bits of tiles.. addy...

    Bathroom walls and floor

hi Charlida, ply is a no no .. as mentioned use backerboard or a cement board, ply is no longer recognised by British Standards I would use Bal Flex-one as this gives you enough working time and adjusting time but can be grouted after 6 hours and you don’t need to adjust the consistency for...

    Help and advice needed

And you paid them to do that? adhesive can only be built up to 6mm in isolated areas unless particular adhesive (Bal flex one for instance) can go to 15mm the floor should have been levelled using a leveller, then an anti-fracture mat laid then the tiling.. I would seriously ask the question of...
