Tiling onto Ply, can it be a success?

The Screed is between the joists and not load bearing. It is supported by the insulation underneath. The 18mm ply is the structural load bearing floor and although it does insulate, it doesn't make the system ineffective and requires the flow rate to be slightly higher than a screed floor...

Tiling onto Ply, can it be a success?

The heating has been installed for 1 year already and works perfectly. Heating bills have went down, floors are warm to touch even with laminate flooring. I realise backer board would be better to tile on than ply hence why I am getting advice and hence the title of the thread. Can someone...

Tiling onto Ply, can it be a success?

It was ordered through a friend who placed a larger order on a house build and so can't return them. So I'm thinking I will get an S1 adhesive. What S1 would people advise? and do CTD/Topps tiles stock it? Thanks again.

So ... unfortunately I can't take the Ultimate S2 back. I understand using this could result in a failed floor. But what's the chances? .. Is it worth the risk?

Tiling onto Ply, can it be a success?

I have read a lot of conflicting opinions on using S2 over Ditra. I decided to go with Ultimate S2 as I read US and UK specs are different and S2 is suitable according to UK spec. I did think the screed was anhydrite but from a quick Google search it seems it's not. It is a dry mix with fibre...

Tiling onto Ply, can it be a success?

The joists are 4" x 2" and largest span is 3m but halfway is a supporting wall under the floor. They joists only actually span 1.5m unsupported.

Tiling onto Ply, can it be a success?

Hi, I've been doing alot of research prior to tiling the ground floor of my home, approx 40m2. The structural floor is 18mm Ply and after reading all the horror stories of failed floors I am getting nervous on whether I am looking at failure before I start! I can't find anywhere online a...
