I started a job on Monday doing a bathroom in a very prestigious home, the client asked me to have a look at a few loose tiles in another bathroom. I popped a tile off the wall with ease and this is what greeted me

This was only completed 2 years ago so I suggested that he contact the firm that did the installation, surprisingly, they've gone bust.

It looks like a lovely job too just a shame he couldn't be bothered to prep and use a trowel

On the face of it, the job looks very tidy. It's a massive room and its like this all over, I reckon it's 60/70 m2 in total. If the floor is the same as the bathroom I'm currently in, it'll be tiled directly to chipboard. Rip out shouldn't take long.

Shocking, like everyone else, on the face of it it looks a good job, but why the ply? Just doesnt make any sense.
it's not even ply though Lee, osb is just a load of dross pulped together with a bit of binder. The tragic thing is that we're competing with these guys and trying to price on belt and braces approach, a bit like trying to box with a hand tied behind your back and wearing a blindfold :(

I think all the threads like these, bad job threads, should have there own category on the forum menu.

Potential customers/diy'ers can easily click on any area or topic to research what they like. But if they were to see more of these examples it might help people choose more wisely who to spend there money on.

They need to be easier to find, instead of getting diluted in all the other more positive treads and topics??

If this fella is pricing against me and the finished work in his portfolio looks as good as mine yet my quote is hundreds more then it's not a surprise these cowboys can keep busy. Will look like the real tiler is trying to pull a fast one.

You need a print off of all these jobs that look good, but aren't. Show the customers when quoting why it can look okay and last a few months but will always backfire.

Wondering if this one was a plumber who did a bit of tiling too?

On the face of it this one looks a bit better than a plumber that does a bit of tiling........maybe a decent tiler who has turned up blind and all of the prep has been done by a well meaning builder who has done it this way for years and never had a problem yet!!!
