what size gap should be left between each sheet of plywood when plying onto floorboards?

Use 18mm ply, leave 2mm gaps between boards and around the edges for expansion.

I Normally Leave A 5mm Gap.
18mm Ply Not Always Practical. Sometimes 15mm Or 9mm, Depending Upon Application. Or 6mm Tile Backer Board

6 mm backerboard is not a structual board,and can't be used with rapid or single part adhesive.BAL recommend a minimum of 10mm board with this or it has to be two part flexible( not mixed with water).
