Hi Folks , followed another Tiler onto a job today using 600 x 300 ceramic tiles with a stone mosaic border. He had tiled as far as the border, then left the appropriate space , battened, and continued tiling to the ceiling to then go back and insert the border. I would have started my first full tile under the border and tiled to the floor, then put my border in around the top and left it for the night, to come back and finish off to the ceiling......What would the rest of you done?

i always find the vertical line is more important than the horizontal getting things square so i can see what he at Pete

I tile from the bottom up peg the border and carry on up. I tend not to use a baton but tile from either the floor or skirting that way the previous row supports the next one. The starting bottom cut is determined by the datum and I match the tiles in the corners and level across the remaining wall to the next corner.

It depends on the border ( mosaics can be crushed with top course.)... i have tiled top and bottom first ...Then inserted mosaic border then used an off cut of tile to press in back to the tiles face so it was nice and flush to both courses of tiles....it's just down to which ever way you find easiest...no two tilers work the same sometimes but as long as the end result is good then no probs........
