Hi lads,

Doing my first marble floor at the weekend, 2m2. Need advice please. was told you can only use certain colour of grouts, is this correct? how long after sealing do i need to wait till i can lay tiles. What is the best way of sealing a brush or sponge.

tiles are being layed on to level concrete floor so i was going to use white rapid set

and all the gear i use is mapei.

Does this all sound ok.

Not sure about certain coloured grouts? I always use a very smooth grout NOT a sanded grout. Colour of the grout depends IMHO on the colour of the marble I try to match as close as possible. If I get a particulaly unique colour marble to work with and can't get a grout to compliment it I'll buy something thats close and tint with oxide to get it just right,

I always fix grout then seal and polish all types of stone, but other on the forum prefer to seal first then fix and yet otheres fix then seal then grout and seal again. Use a cloth or lambswool applicator pad DON"T use a brush as this can leave marks thatwill only have to be buffed out latter.

I normally dry cut marble for floors but if your new to marble a wet cutter would be a safer bet to do cuts.
