Glass mosaic border - Tile Advice

Hi all just got back to tiling my bathroom after suffering with a slipped disc since the start of December.

I'm doing a 140mm wide vertical border with 10mm glass mosaic. I've made an MDF template and screeded a layer of standard set adhesive. Then I'm gonna do another 2 to 3mm using the same method just before fitting the mosaics.

From what I've read you need to let the first tjin layer set before putting the second coat. Should this first coat be left over night or just until it feels dry.

Definitely need to prime ? I have got some mapei primer for the plastered walls

Ended up using the tile backer sheets from Wickes, came out well for my first attempt at mosaics. Grouting next
