CIS Cards

i went to the tax office today to get a CIS card. they told me they had not issued a CIS card since April 2007. they told me there are no CIS cards anymore. A suby should reg. with the tax office and that is all. the employer then takes your UTR and NI and that's it. the employer can then call the tax office and check these details and find out how much tax to stop 20% 03 30%. not a lot of people know this.

It should be common knowledge if you are self employed and do sub contract work..

that's what i thought, but some people think you need a CIS card. so now i hope everyone will know.

yes thats right, they are phasing the cis card out due to fraud

CIS cards got phased out years ago mike..

You just need your UTR and NI numbers now... and if you do sites then a CSCS card as well..

As above unique tax reference (UTR] has been with us for a while. Glad mike (mz30 ) put his old CIS to good use
