From an English point of view it was good that they won. However IMO it was a carp game, especially the first half. England's basic game was lacking in the extreme, turn over ball at nearly every ruck, knock on's, poor field position, kicking away position, the list goes on! The forwards didn't turn up for the first half, (Haskell seemd to be the only one who was really trying), although they were better in the second.
Gray and Patterson had a good game for Scotland, but overall it was a typical Calcutta Cup match. Over hyped with Scotland slowing the ball down at every given opportunity, sometimes legally most of the time not! (They got away with it though and that's what matters!).
The match changed direction when Wilko took to the field, although to be fair to Flood the forwards were playing better by this time. I'm still mystified as to why he, (Flood), kicked for goal when the one thing the Engish forwards were doing right at the time, (scrum's and maul's), should have been taken in front of the post's. Especially as Scotland had just had a man binned, (mainly for not keeping his mouth shut!).
