Is it possible after downloading a programme from bbc iplayer to put it on a disc so it can be played on a dvd player?

Yes you can but it is illegal to do so. You would need to record the AV output from your laptob into a digital recorder, then convert the format to DVD compatible. I used to have some software that can do this which I used to use during my extra-curricular activities. Now I just seem to spend my time on the forums
