Ok so I have a 3m x 2m bathroom to fit out & have just ripped the floor up back to joists.
What is your preferred method of preparation.
The tiles are 450 x 450 porcelain.
22mm NMP
Chipboard & tile backer
Chipboard & antifracture
Ply & Ditra.....etc etc?
evening chaps,
what do you prefer at wall / ceiling abutment joint ?
grout
silicone seal
caulk seal
'nothing' just a shadow gap i.e. no grout / sealant
personally I like #4 - as long as the cuts are within 1mm tolerance of each other.
Hi all,
would love some advice
In my new house we are putting a kitchen into a 30sqm room at the back of the house.
It has 20ml solid wood floor, TG, floated on what looks like a baton frame which is sunk into concrete. Underneath we have wet UFH
We are also knocking through, the knock...
When serving my time with mee oll mate desy ( God rest him ) , going back 15-20years ago we always got sandwiches cookies and tea , and nearly every job we got a tip .
I've been thinking lately I've not had one in a very long time.
I recently cancelled a family holiday we had planned , to tile...
1940’s Dutch colonial house- is this terra cotta tile or something else? Trying to decide if it’s worth trying to clean and save or if we should tear it up. Thanks!
Just stripped out a tiled shower cubicle, the tiles were put onto plywood, and had an ok bond. Ive overboarded with Multipanel now but theres a half foot gap at the top that wants tiling with some porcelain tiles.
I cant really replace it with cement board for various reasons.
I have Primer G...
Hello guys, I have a 40 metre slate floor to lay in opus next week.
The slate is highly riven and will grout in silver grey.
The slate will be washed and then sealed with Matt stone sealer.
Will lay around the heating mat with an s2 adhesive, s1 elsewhere.
I have 2 questions ;
What grout would...
What are the issues with having a wet tile? If water is getting into the tile (Ceramics, ignoring faults) then it must go through the grout and I assume into the adhesive (is this right?).
So is the concern the bond between the adhesive and the wall? (in Plan Tec's post some tilers mention the...

Hi
I’ve seen the video for the Montolit STL discs that can cut and grind but before I bite the bullet and spend £90 odd on a 4” grinder disc, I wondered if there are any other cheaper alternatives for grinding down or cleaning up tile edges (or bevelling even)?
Don’t have many issues with...
Im curious to know what every tilers goto levelling (smoothing ) compound is to get a floor in your eyes perfect for the job.
If you need that glass smooth flat/ level finish what product do you guys use and why?
My interest is purely that, as an experienced floorlayer my company is always...
So over last few weeks I along with @Mark Frost have been on a project that @jonnyc had invited me on to.
A new build in leafy Surrey, consisting of two extraordinarily large ensuites, his and hers, a downstairs cloak and a pool room bathroom to be done in a few weeks time.
All in Flaviker 2.4...

Tiling nightmare continues...
These were fixed at the start of the month and in the last few days this crack has appeared. I think a crack (or two) might be appearing in the tile above too.
We're not in a good place with this. I've no confidence in our tiler's ability (see previous thread)...
So I'm looking to get a bathroom fitter to do my ensuite.
One of his previous customers sent a few photos of a bathroom he did for them. All were out of focus except the one below.
Am I being over critical in saying the tiles don't look evenly spaced ?
My tiler has currently got white metal edging strips tacked up (unfinished job) as shown in photo below. Is this the best way to finish travertine external corners? It doesn't look great to my eye...
Also struggling with grout colour. I had thought white. The tiler has recommended ivory...
It was his first day today. I found him on mybuilder. He wasn't the cheapest quote and I chose him because he says he's a professional tiler. It's a bathroom which we're fully tiling with white travertine tiles 30 x 45 x 12. The things I'm worried about / unhappy about are:
1. the first...
